Well it took awhile, but all items on our final inspection correction report were satisfied, and a Final was issued this past Thursday. It seems like a long time coming, and we are relieved to have that behind us (not to mention we can also final our Mortgage!). Attached are some final pics before landscaping is “complete”.
Final Inspection – February 8, 2009

We have a winter wonderland here, and there is more snow forecast for this evening. We will almost certainly have a white Christmas, as we have around 9 inches on the ground, and not been much above freezing for the last week. The animals have been fun to watch, with Snow Geese, Bald Eagles, and Nutria all making appearances for the cameras.
We are scheduled for a final inspection, but given weather conditions, things are not normal, and we will see what happens. Our appliances were all hooked up on Saturday, and we continue to finish some paint and stain, wash windows and tubs, and get ready to finally live here!!!
Merry Christmas to all our friends and family. Be safe and remember the “Reason for the Season.”

Lot’s has happened, and lot’s more happening in the next week or so. We are hoping to go for final inspection this week, but it is extremely cold out, which prevents pouring concrete, etc. The pics give an idea of how things now look, with all the flooring done, electricity finally on, and plumbing all but finished. We are in the “home” strectch now.

November 22, 2008 by garyolsonThings are moving along, as you can see from the pics. We went with Vinyl Tile in the Kitchen and non downstairs bath, and are pleased with the result. Painting is mostly done, and we have our bathroom vanities and laundry room cabinets. Outside the electrical trenching is done, and we are looking forward to power hookup, hopefully in the next few days. After months of temporary power from the old house, the idea of flipping a switch and having light, or just plugging into the wall outlet seems almost exotic.

Cabinets were installed, and are already well loved. Gaylen found some pulls she likes, and the cabinet maker will install. We are trying to get some vinyl tile installed so the cabinets can be finalized. Our fireplaces were fired off, and we can lower our power bill (we have been using space heaters to keep the sheetrock and paint drying). The stairwork has been started, and some doors are hung and some millwork installed. Lee is back and we are trying to get the downstairs furnace working off of an extension cord. Some of the electrical plugs and switches are installed. We are very anxious to get our power installed!!!

October 25, 2008 by garyolsonReinforcements have appeared! Sher came home and Grammie and Papa have come to visit, and help celebrate Ang’s Birthday. Of course our building project can’t stop, and Grammie and Papa became painters. The sheetrockers finished up yesterday, and we got started priming the whole house. Almost 20 gallons of primer have been sprayed through my new Wagner spray gun, and we probably have close to a 1/3 of the house left. We are painting the interior ourselves, so we can afford to paint individual rooms separate colors. We purchased 4 colors, 1 gallon each, and those rooms are ready to finish paint tomorrow. The Natural Gas got hooked up today, but we continue to have trouble getting electrical hookup. Given that they have a monopoly, we have little leverage.
We will continue painting tomorrow, and try to be in position for the finish carpenters who are slated to start putting up the tongue and groove pine ceiling material on Monday. He also will order and install the stair railing system, and install doors, millwork, etc.
Update – October 16, 2008
October 17, 2008 by garyolsonThings continue to progress, although not as fast as we would like. We were anxious to get our deck sprayed as we are halfway through October and the wet weather is coming. It was finally sprayed yesterday. It is a product called Rhinoliner, that is well known as a truck bedliner. It makes for a weather proof product without seams, and is particularly important on the little deck off the master bedroom that is above living area.
The siding is virtually done, with just some trim items for them to finish up. The sheet rock is hung and taped, and they continue to be back most days to continue to smooth the surface in preparation for texturing. They are tentatively planning to start sanding on Saturday, and spray on Tuesday. Wednesday they buff, and we start painting (LW). We are scheduled to have appliances and cabinets delivered yet this month, so we have our work cut out for us.
