Plumbing/Electrical/Windows – July 31, 2008

Rough In Plumbing is almost done, Rough In electrical is moving along, and the windows were delivered yesterday.

Odds & Ends – July 25, 2008

The framers have very little left to finish up. The front porch is yet to come and a landing for the deck stairs are a couple of things. It looks like the sheeting is complete and they are ready for a sheer inspection. The plumbers have most of the rough plumbing in. I put some insulation behind the shower areas so that they can finish the rough plumbing of them. Thanks to Lee who lined out the heating and AC plan (while providing much entertainment). The electrician is expecting to start on Monday. Windows are supposed to be delivered on Wednesday, and perhaps installed yet next week. The garage door is on order and we are expecting to have temporary doors for the front, so we are close to a lockable shell.

Stairs In – Decks Up – July 23, 2008

The treads for the stairs to the loft were set today (we got a bad board and are waiting for the replacement to finish the last two). Rough in plumbing continued. The big deck was mostly framed.

Roofs on – Rough Plumbing In – July 22, 2008

Okay here is 3 days worth of pictures. The roofing was conveyed up yesterday, and today the crew arrived shortly after 7 AM, and by 1 pm they were finishing up. The red and clear pipe is the hot and cold water supply. The plumbers are close to finishing the rough in. The framers got the basement to main floor stairs in, and are working on the risers for the stairs to the loft. The deck material has been delivered and will be framed up soon. Windows are supposed to arrive in about a week, the garage door is being ordered, and we ordered our front doors. A lot going on, and still a lot to do!

Rough-In Plumbing – July 17, 2008

Rough-In Plumbing started today, and the tub and showers were delivered. They need to get the vents through the roof by Monday, as the roofing material is to be delivered and the roof installed Tuesday. Windows were ordered and Garage Door soon, and we are closed to having a dry shell (thank the Lord for the dry part!).

Framing Mostly Done – July 14, 2008

Framing started on June 9th, so around 5 weeks later, the majority of the main structure is done. There are still stairs to build and sheeting off a few walls, but we are almost ready for rough plumbing and a roof. I am trying to source some recycled beams for the front porch, and the framers will also come back for window installs in a couple of weeks.

The boom truck was busy this morning lifting 4 large beams into place plus the posts to support (plus some other material). They also have started putting the roof stringers up in the loft area. They are expecting by end of day Thursday to have the roof sheeted, so changes are still in the air. Speaking of changes, we are changing the loft deck to be more open than originally planned.

Loft Walls – July 2, 2008

The front loft wall went up today as well as the frame of the front of the bedroom wall. I also got the scoop on the hole in the floor (yesterday), with a heavy beam falling and crashing through a sawhorse and punching a hole in the floor. Thank the Lord no one was hurt. The sawhorse is toast, but the floor is easily fixed.

We picked up our permit two months ago today. A lot has certainly taken place already, with much more to follow.
