Update – August 24, 2008

August 25, 2008

This past week saw several things accomplished. In addition to the continued work on the heating and air conditioning, we also got the black pipe Natural gas work done, and the piping for the central vacuum. This evening, we had a “Blessing Party”, where our church came out to our house, and wrote on the floors and walls, verses or encouragement. We also enjoyed food and singing. It has been a very wet August, and we are very ready to have skylights installed and remove the drips. Hopefully in the next week, the porch will be installed, and then we can get the roofers back to finish the porch roof and install the skylights.

Update – August 19, 2008

August 20, 2008

I had a little helper to “pound” nails with one day, and am very thankful Bro Lee could come up and mastermind the Heating and AC setup. We ended up with a 3 ton 95% efficiency furnace for the main floor and the basement, and a 2 ton 80% furnace with Heat Pump for the Loft. I also ended up with a sore thumb and lot’s of stories!!!

The gas piping guys arrived yesterday, and promptly slid off the driveway. I will have to post an additional picture of that. We are still waiting for the last posts for the porch, and then siding can go up. We are ready to order cabinets, countertops, interior doors, etc. Hopefully framing inspection will be soon, and then insulation and drywall to follow.

Update – August 10, 2008

August 11, 2008

I have a garage again!!! The garage door was installed on Thursday, and we got a load of tongue and groove pine for the ceiling. The kids helped me (Angela was crowned as Benite Queen), and we got about 3/4 of it conditioned, prior to putting stain on it. The electrician just has a day or two of rough in left, and Lee is coming up tomorrow to start work on the heating and AC duct work. If all goes well, we will be ready for sheetrock in 2-3 weeks. I will probably just publish once a week for awhile as the changes will be less obvious.

Deck Stuff – August 2, 2008

August 3, 2008

Simon and I worked on getting the plywood on the front deck today. We are planning to have it sprayed with a fast setting product from Rhino Liner (think Pickup beds). Gaylen and Katrina really did a nice job of cleaning up after the framers, electricians, and plumbers, all of whom are better at making messes than cleaning them up. As long as we continue to get good framing, plumbing and electrical word done, we won’t complain.

Windows Installed – August 1, 2008

August 2, 2008

Windows were installed yesterday after great effort by the Framing crew. Several of them were in the 35-40 square feet range and being installed high. We only forgot to order one window (above the front door), and it will be here before the porch is finished. We’ve starting cleaning up the framing/plumbing/electrical messes, in anticipation of more messes in our future!!!!
