October 30, 2008Update – October 23, 2008
October 25, 2008Reinforcements have appeared! Sher came home and Grammie and Papa have come to visit, and help celebrate Ang’s Birthday. Of course our building project can’t stop, and Grammie and Papa became painters. The sheetrockers finished up yesterday, and we got started priming the whole house. Almost 20 gallons of primer have been sprayed through my new Wagner spray gun, and we probably have close to a 1/3 of the house left. We are painting the interior ourselves, so we can afford to paint individual rooms separate colors. We purchased 4 colors, 1 gallon each, and those rooms are ready to finish paint tomorrow. The Natural Gas got hooked up today, but we continue to have trouble getting electrical hookup. Given that they have a monopoly, we have little leverage.
We will continue painting tomorrow, and try to be in position for the finish carpenters who are slated to start putting up the tongue and groove pine ceiling material on Monday. He also will order and install the stair railing system, and install doors, millwork, etc.
Update – October 16, 2008
October 17, 2008Things continue to progress, although not as fast as we would like. We were anxious to get our deck sprayed as we are halfway through October and the wet weather is coming. It was finally sprayed yesterday. It is a product called Rhinoliner, that is well known as a truck bedliner. It makes for a weather proof product without seams, and is particularly important on the little deck off the master bedroom that is above living area.
The siding is virtually done, with just some trim items for them to finish up. The sheet rock is hung and taped, and they continue to be back most days to continue to smooth the surface in preparation for texturing. They are tentatively planning to start sanding on Saturday, and spray on Tuesday. Wednesday they buff, and we start painting (LW). We are scheduled to have appliances and cabinets delivered yet this month, so we have our work cut out for us.
