Okay – we haven’t stopped working on building this house. But we have been busy and it’s been awhile since an update. We have now had several inspections (gas piping, electrical, framing) which have been passed and allow us to insulate. That is being done right now. Hopefully, a framing correction can be quickly completed and we will get approval to cover (install sheetrock). Once that is done, we can paint, then do floor coverings, cabinets, etc, etc.
On the picture front, how would you like to call your boss and say, please send out a tow truck – ah, better make that two.

This past week saw several things accomplished. In addition to the continued work on the heating and air conditioning, we also got the black pipe Natural gas work done, and the piping for the central vacuum. This evening, we had a “Blessing Party”, where our church came out to our house, and wrote on the floors and walls, verses or encouragement. We also enjoyed food and singing. It has been a very wet August, and we are very ready to have skylights installed and remove the drips. Hopefully in the next week, the porch will be installed, and then we can get the roofers back to finish the porch roof and install the skylights.

I had a little helper to “pound” nails with one day, and am very thankful Bro Lee could come up and mastermind the Heating and AC setup. We ended up with a 3 ton 95% efficiency furnace for the main floor and the basement, and a 2 ton 80% furnace with Heat Pump for the Loft. I also ended up with a sore thumb and lot’s of stories!!!
The gas piping guys arrived yesterday, and promptly slid off the driveway. I will have to post an additional picture of that. We are still waiting for the last posts for the porch, and then siding can go up. We are ready to order cabinets, countertops, interior doors, etc. Hopefully framing inspection will be soon, and then insulation and drywall to follow.

I have a garage again!!! The garage door was installed on Thursday, and we got a load of tongue and groove pine for the ceiling. The kids helped me (Angela was crowned as Benite Queen), and we got about 3/4 of it conditioned, prior to putting stain on it. The electrician just has a day or two of rough in left, and Lee is coming up tomorrow to start work on the heating and AC duct work. If all goes well, we will be ready for sheetrock in 2-3 weeks. I will probably just publish once a week for awhile as the changes will be less obvious.

The framers have very little left to finish up. The front porch is yet to come and a landing for the deck stairs are a couple of things. It looks like the sheeting is complete and they are ready for a sheer inspection. The plumbers have most of the rough plumbing in. I put some insulation behind the shower areas so that they can finish the rough plumbing of them. Thanks to Lee who lined out the heating and AC plan (while providing much entertainment). The electrician is expecting to start on Monday. Windows are supposed to be delivered on Wednesday, and perhaps installed yet next week. The garage door is on order and we are expecting to have temporary doors for the front, so we are close to a lockable shell.
